A common belief is that universal truths exist in science that are inviolate, and that our experiments can or should find these truths and they will guide our medical or other interventions forevermore. More realistic is that life changes on a day to day basis, as does medicine, and that what was true for decades or even a few years ago may no longer apply. We need to have the flexibility of mind to appreciate this and be able to adjust our behaviors to reflect it. [more]
