		Great American Smokeout Every year on the third Thursday in November, the American Cancer Society sponsors the Great American Smokeout, which encourages smokers to quit cigarettes for at least one day. More people quit smoking on this day than any other day of the year. This year's event takes place on November 18. If you're still smoking, why not make this day your first of many smoke-free days to come?
